Description
A Level 2 historic building survey of a two storey stone-built barn associated with The Elms Farm, 6 Church Street, Crick, Northamptonshire. The work was commissioned by Hammond Town Planning from University of Leicester Archaeological Services (ULAS) in advance of proposals to demolish the existing barn and construct a new dwelling. The site consists of a brick-built farmhouse of 19th century date (which does not form part of the proposed works or this survey) and a range of stone-built stables and barns extending to the north-east of the farmhouse. The affected barn is also of 19th century date but incorporates earlier re-used timbers. The buildings are locally listed as the farmhouse forms part of the architectural streetscape within the locality and is close to a number of other listed buildings. The key significance of the buildings lies in their relationship to each other and their development and uses over time, as well as their historic fabric. Information from OASIS online form
