Description

The geophysical survey consisted of a detailed gradiometer survey of the area to be affected by the proposed development, totalling approximately 1.7 hectares. The survey was undertaken to help inform potential sewerage waste improvement works in the western part of the site and possible future car park construction in the eastern part of the site. A number of anomlaies of potential archaeological interest were identified including a series of rectilinear enclosures on a different alignment to the former medieval moat in the northern part of the survey area and may therefore predate it. The former use of the site as a poultry farm meant that there was significant interference.
