Description

A geophysical (magnetometer) survey was undertaken on approximately 49 hectares of land located to the north of Brackley, Northamptonshire. Anomalies of both an archaeological and a possible archaeological origin have been recorded including a series of rectilinear enclosures, field systems and pits. Medieval or post-medieval cultivation has also been identified along with former field boundaries, modern ploughing and field drains. Geological responses can be seen throughout. Magnetic disturbance within the Site can be attributed to electricity pylons, location of a former building and around the periphery of the fields, metal fencing within the boundaries. Overall, the archaeological potential of the Site is considered to be high in Area 2 and medium to low elsewhere.
