Description

Trial trenches in 2019 and 2022 on the site of a cottage shown on an estate map of 1727. A limestone foundation was found, mostly well preserved, about 8m in length, at right angles to the lane, and an area of stone rubble on the south-west side of the wall. Finds include many potsherds and some clay pipe fragments, predominantly of 17th century date, and some metal objects.
