Description

Archaeological investigation identified over 200 medieval burials associated with the medieval church of St Edmund which was demolished in the 16th century. The design of the build, which incorporated piled foundations, ensured that most of the burials remained in situ. Thirteen inhumations were identified in pile locations and were subsequently excavated.
