Description
{1} Watching brief of excavation of foundations for a new showroom. Within this area lay part of a modern cellar fronting The Green, and visible in an area measuring 5m north-south by 9m east-west. Notes made at the time show that it extends further north under the present yard. In addition, a brick- and stone-lined well was located in the north-east corner of the plot. No other archaeology was present within the area exposed to the depths indicated. The base of the stripped area was described as "mainly dark brown sticky clay loam". Natural was not seen in any of trenches.
