Description

{2} A watching brief was maintained during the removal of overburden prior to gravel extraction on the site of the Roman villa. No significant new remains were identified although a palaeochannel adjacent to the villa site contained a series of upright timbers, observed by the contractors, which may have been the remains of a wharf or a reinforcement of the bank.
