Description

{1} Excavation of five trenches revealed extensive archaeological deposits. At the eastern part of the site, adjacent to an extant row of seventeenth-century almshouses, is intensive evidence for medieval activity and occupation. At least one limestone quarry-pit was identified, waste-stone from which formed a level foundation deposit upon which the remnant footings of a medieval building were built. Several post-medieval linear boundaries were also recorded within the western part of the site.
