Description
{1} Two trenches were excavated prior to redevelopment of the site for agricultural, retail and repair works in order to assess the potential for Roman remains, specifically plot boundaries and their relationship to Watling Street. There was no structural evidence of Roman settlement or distinct occupation until the 19th and 20th centuries at which point the site appears to have only been used sporadically for industrial purposes, perhaps associated with the adjacent railway
