Description

{1} Machine cut trenches were dug extensively, and adjacent to areas which had reported numerous finds of the Roman period. Results indicated a very low density of archaeological features. A deep soil, lying directly over the sandstone subsoil, suggested that in some areas the ground had already been disturbed to a depth of 600-700 mm.
