Description
{1} At the site of the Roman town a trench had been cut in the north east area close to, and parallel with, the modern road. The trench extended the entire length of the field and was dug to a depth of cl in. At the north end a group of deep pits was exposed. The ditches were observed in section; to the north of the outer ditch traces of a gravelled surface were noted; within the line of the ditches several pits had been cut by the trench, but there was a dearth of recognizable features.
