Description

{1} A trench was excavated along the Watling Street frontage, with three more excavated at right angles to the rear. There was a dense concentration of features along the frontage, although time and finances restricted investigation. {3} On the frontage of Watling Street a series of boundary ditches yielded pottery mainly of the 2nd century, but one ditch contained later pottery. It cut an earlier masonry building, 7m wide with pitched masonry foundations, which seemed to be irregularly aligned to Watling Street.
