Description

[1} Roman settlement comprising ditches and pits containing 1st century AD pottery were recorded during road construction. {2} Compaction of the surface by box-scrapers coupled with hot dry weather made observation difficult for much of the time. At the Rothersthorpe Road end of the works there were a series of narrow linear features, but there were no finds; possibly natural in origin. Between SP73455875 and SP 73505890 a series of pits was observed. Several were investigated and all contained Iron Age/Belgic pottery.
