Description
Trench 0.4m x 6m x 1.70m deep cut by machine for soil testing. Natural geology observed at a depth of 1.15m comprising ironstone in orange sandy soil. Cutting natural and immediately below the ground surface were graves belonging to St Mary's burial ground of C18th onwards? Human remains present in abundance. Graves cut down to a depth of 1.30m and no evidence of earlier levels. (later note indicates that the burials are associated with the Doddridge Chapel not St Mary's Church)
