Description

{3} Archaeological observation of a flood alleviation scheme was carried out in 1985. It revealed that much of the bank between the fishpond and the stream is undisturbed bedrock with only the upper levels being man-made. Pottery dating to 1150-1250 was found in a buried soil horizon, suggesting a date of construction for the fishponds.
