Description

Topsoil stripping at SP 84478294 revealed two areas of burnt stonework, iron tap slag and fragments of furnace bottom in association with l3th-l4th century pottery. Other areas of stonework nearby produced more medieval pottery and half of a green glazed ridge tile. A whole range of pottery from Saxo-Norman to post medieval was collected along the route of the pipeline between 84558280 and 84538268 in the field next to the manor house.
