Please read our .

Summary

A tall three-storey shoe factory that was constructed circa 1880, and is set back on the north side of Fitzwilliam Street. The site is accessible via a narrow lane passing between street frontage houses. The south front has four pier and panel bays, each incorporating a pair of tall openings on each floor. The factory is constructed in orange brick and has windows with blue segmental heads, brick sills and cast-iron frames. The original entrance occupies the left hand position in the eastern most bay. The taking-in doorways were situated on the first and second floors in the same bay, but in the right-hand position where they have subsequently been converted into windows. There is the scar of a former crane on the eastern most pier. The factory latterly formed part of C.W Horrells' works in Fitzwilliam Street (SP 96 85) and by the 1970s it was linked physically by extensions to the Horrell works.
