Summary

(Rushden Steam Laundry Co. Ltd., P.Collins & Co. Ltd., SCA) Probably a purpose built steam laundary in 1895, this single storey building faces Allen Road to the north. It consists of a gabled front range and north-lit ranges to the rear. It was adapted for use as heel factory between 1906 and 1922.In the 1960s it became a cardboard box factory for the shoe trade.

{1} Heel Factory, Allen Road. Building shown on map as 'Heel Factory' now Rexham Cartons and Print. Sign on the door for H.W. Chapman Ltd Cardboard Box manufacture. Film 7 photo 26.

{3} Datestone of 1895. Built as a steam laundry later used as a heel factory; the original building had a gabled office range on the street and a working area behind;
