Summary

John White (Impregnable Boots) Ltd. Transport Depot. A large single-storey transport shed that was built probably in the late 1920s for the shoe manufacturing firm of John White. It stands on the south side of Shirley Road. The north front has two wide openings with folding timber garage doors. The gable above is largely taken up by a cement panel bearing the raised lettering 'Transport Depot of John White (Impregnable Boots) Ltd'. The remainder of the gable is roughcast beneath a pitched brick coping (giving the effect of a pediment) and incorporates tile kneelers. The roof, which is carried on steel trusses, is of corrugated asbestos sheet and incorporates a roof light.
