Full Description

{1} Drill Hall, Victoria Hall. 'Drill Hall 1928' on building on Victoria Road. Now used by Air Training Corps and Leicestershire and Northamptonshire Army Cadet Force, Rushden Detachment. Film 6 photo 16.

{2} Pre WWII. Two-storey front block with gable and stone detail. Hall, garages etc to rear. Staff house attached. Drill station in 1914 for C Sqdn N'ants Yeomanry and H Coy 4 Bn N'ants Regt.

{3} Built c 1928 in neo-Georgian style with a symmetrical, two-storey front block built from red brick. A projecting, pedimented central bay contains a segmental-arched stone entrance on the ground floor, leading to double doors, above which is a plaque displaying the words 'Drill Hall' in incised script. The ground floor windows have segmental-arched heads whilst the first floor windows have straight heads rising to meet the eaves. The drill hall was built on the edge of a residential area and has a plot large enough to allow for three windows to the outer bays as well as access down the side of the drill hall to the yard behind. The hall itself is attached to the front block by a single-storey building and is c70 feet long by 30 feet wide, with what appears to be an attached rifle range, c100feet by 13 feet, to the north-east. Very similar in style to the drill hall in Wellingborough [7206/240].
