Full Description

{1} Police Station. Northamptonshire County Constabulary was formed in 1840. A County Police Station was established in 1860 in Thrapston. The Thrapston division comprised 17 parishes from parts of Oundle, Kettering and Wellingborough Divisions. The area lost its status as a division in the 1930's and a new police station was built in Huntingdon Road. The original building was used as a magistrates court, but was later converted to hotel and restaurant. The building is currently in use as 'The Court House Inn', but is up for sale. The building is an impressive structure of stone construction. Film 3, photo 25. As well as the main building there were a number of smaller structures which all appeared to link to the police station - possibly used as accomodation for police officers and cells etc. Film 4, photo 1,2,3.
