Full Description
{1} The supply of water to the town became a priority in the late 19th century. A reservoir and pumping station were established off the Braybrook Road in 1896 and J.R. Moore writing in 1910 indicates that further waterworks had been tried in Pipewell Road and Rothwell Road, but had not succeeded. An additional waterworks was supplied in 1912 to the east of the town beyond the cemetery and an additional reservoir is shown on the Ordnance Survey map of 1926 to the west of the town in close proximity to the Gas Purifying works.
