Monument record 7198/24 - Shoe factory, Princes Street/Nelson Street

Damaged by fire in the 1990s and now largely demolished. The remains of the ground floor of a three storey boot and shoe factory on the corner of Princes Street and Nelson Street. The remaining wall of the building is constructed from brick. Ordnance Survey maps and other documentary sources, show that it was constructed circa 1890.

Shoe factory on corner of Princes Street and Nelson Street. Appears to have been subject to a fire. There is a small element of the ground floor frontage which survives, but the remainder has been burnt away. It is possible that this may have been W Wilson and Co, Princes Street Boot and Shoe Manufactury listed in Kelly's Trade Directory of 1894/.Film 11, photo 1.
