Summary

A single-storey shoe factory was built in 1901 as the Premier Works for Smith, Sheffield and Foster Ltd. It occupies a large plot stretching from Morley Street on the south to Balfour Street on the north. It is a single-storeyed north-lit factory with its principal entrance and offices on Morley Street. The asymmetrical south front is in brick with limestone details confined to the off-centre office range. The remainder of the front consists of blind segmental arcading.

{1} Premier Works Boot and Shoe, Morley Street / Balfour Street
Large construction for Premier Works with office frontage of elaborate doorway and use of stained glass and a series of north lit sheds. The building is dated 1901. The structure is now out of use and has been subject to vandalism with a number of windows etc smashed. Film 13, photo 6,7,8,9.

The 1901 Premier Works occupies a large plot stretching from Morley Street on the south to Balfour Street on the north. It is a single-storeyed north-lit with its principal entrance and offices on Morely Street. The asymmetrical south front is in orange brick on a blue brick base, with limestone details confined to the off-centre basemented office range.
