Summary

Erected in the 1870s to the designs of Messrs. Appleby of Derby, and operated by Jessop and Co., who in 1878 were described as manufacturers of locomotive and stationary engines and every description of engine pumps. There was one large shop 30m long, 13m wide and 6m high. The premises, with additions, are now occupied by Henry Billson Ltd, steel stockholders.

{1} Glendon Engine Works, Sackville Street
The original works is now divided, part has been demolished, part has been converted to to flats and the remainder is still in use as an industrial building for 'Henry T Belso (Kettering) Steel Fabricators'. It is comprised of a complex of different buildings of different ages. In 1894 Glendon Engine Works (Iron and Brass founders and engineers) were listed as being located in Rockingham Road.

1894-1903- Glendon Engine Works. Steam engine makers, mortar mill makers and ironfounders
By 1910 the premises had been taken by Mair, Nixon and Ferguson, ball-bearing manufacturers. Some of the buildings still exist.
