Building record 7198/117 - Boot and Shoe factory, Rosebery Street

A pair of small two storey boot and shoe factories on the north side of Shaftesbury Street. The brick built factories have been combined into a single works all with tile covered roofs. Ordnance Survey maps and other sources suggest that the factories were built circa 1890.

{2} One of a pair of factories built shortly before 1899. their virtually identical form suggests speculative origins, perhaps connected with the layout of Harcourt and Roseberry Streets in which the houses all have back-yard workshops. The 1899 map shows them as separate works.
