Summary
Leather works on Lancaster Road. This small complex built around a yard on the south side of Lancaster Road, probably originated as a leather factory in the 1890s. The two-storeyed principal building consists of two ranges gabled parallel to the street. It is constructed from red brick with a slate-covered roof. Set between the gables is the base of a broad stack which could be evidence of the internal drying system common to leather factories. A collection of ancillary buildings is arranged around a yard at the east end of the main range.
