Full Description
{1} Industrial building to rear of plot off Wood Street. The building comprises three towers, of three storeys with north lights to the top. Now in use by 'H Goodman and Son' Film 9, photo 13.
N.B. This building may include some of the original structure of the large building shown on an early map.
{2} This leather works occupies a roughly rectangular site on the east side of Park Road close to the junction with Wood Street. The original factory, probably dating from soon after the foundation of the firm circa 1890 (SLN), consists of a two-storey block with three gables facing north-south. These blocks are built of brick with stone quoining on the five-bay elevation facing Park Road. A lower, two storey, three-bay block, with a taking-in
door facing an entrance in Wood Street, also appears, on the evidence of the 1899 OS map, to be part of the original factory. A 1916 view of the works (SLN) shows the three gabled roofs running back from a front range, but is otherwise fanciful.
