Summary

A boot and shoe factory consisting of two separate buildings: one of three stories, the other of one. Both buildings are on the north side of Regent Street and built of brick with slate covered roofs. Documentary sources show that they were both built in 1900.

Full Description

{1} Three storey building with elaborate frontage dated 1890. Has a range of industrial building to the rear including north lit sheds. There are some elaborate three storey terraces adjacent to the factory. Film 10, photo 10.
Two storey factory on Regent Street behind the larger factory on the corner of Regent/Nelson street. Plain red brick linear building. In use by 'PR Upholsterers'.
One or two of the factories on Regent Street may be Haddon and Groom Boot and Shoe Manufacturers and / or Hales and Jawett Boot and Shoe Manufactury.
Thomas Seddon's Cardboard box manufacturers was also located on Regent Street.

{2} Factory comprises two buildings: this one and a two-storey building on the other side of a common yard. The two buildings appear to be contemporary, sharing a number of stylisitc features. The buildings were built on vacnt land belonging to a small pre-1899 factory, since demolished, which had its principal elevation on Nelson St.
