Summary

The former Midland Leather Works consists of four single storeyed north-lit ranges placed gable on to Midland Road on the west and extending eastwards for some 70 metres. The street frontage has been rendered and refenestrated. Along the north side a lean-to with corrugted iron sides and a small gabled brick structure further east are pre 1924 in date. Other ranges including a large extension northwards from the east end, date from later in the 20th century. Though altered externally, this work represents a complete survival of a circa 1910 leather factor

{1} Midland Leather Works, Midland Road
Building shown on map as Midland Leather Works - now a single storey building with a very functional appearance. Has four north lights and is now utilised by 'C&A Gould Ltd - Midland Road Granaries'.Film 1, photo 16.
