Summary

This leather dressing works erected circa 1890, originally consisted of two parallel two-storeyed rangs gabled north-south. There is an eight bay elevation to Saffron Road on the east, and eight closely spaced windows divided between the two gables facing Spring gardens to the south. On the south front there is an entrance in the easternmost bay of the western range. To the east there is a taking-in doorway in the third bay from the north. Each gable seems originally to have had an occulus. Now demolished.

{1} Leather dressing works, School Board Place/ Spring Gardens (now Saffron Road)
Leather dressing works on School Board Place now in use by Mark Saxby Ltd. Described in trade directory of 1924 as Saxby Moyes and Co (curriers). The frontage has been rendered, but the building itself appears to survive intact. Film 6, photo 14-15.
