Full Description

{1} The gas works have been established in the town since 1834, but initially at a higher price than in neighbouring towns, as coal had to be bought by road not rail. Gas was supplied by the Kettering Gas Company and was incorporated by Act of Parliament in 1891. The large gas works to the west of the town off Howard Street/Gas Street has now been demolished and the area has become an industrial estate.
