Full Description

Waterworks
Waterworks were established in 1872 with reservoirs in Weekley, Rockingham Road and the Cransley Valley. Developments came in 1885, 1886, 1887 with new wells, pumping stations and reservoirs. Additional works were set up at Thorpe Malsor pumping station in early 1890's.The works were subject to a compulsary purchase by the Urban District Council in 1898. The outline of the Reservoir Road reservoir and waterworks is still in existence, but is now out of use / derelict and fenced off. The site is not being put to any use. The pump house has been replaced with a modern building.
There was a reservoir on the corner of Rothwell Road / Gypsy Lane. This has now gone and an electricity building is located on the site. (1)
