Telephone Exchange
The National Telephone Company opened its first exchange in Kettering in 1890. It began in Market Street, but moved to Church Walk in 1895, Ebenezer Place in 1903 and to rooms above the post office in Lower Street in 1937. The exchange which was known as 'Kettering Urban Exchange' finally moved to Trafalgar Road in 1979. All buildings remain in existence. (1)
