Full Description
{1} Industrial building, Church Lane/Moat Lane. Solid stone structure on corner of Church Lane and Moat Lane post dates 1900. Film 4, photo 2.
{2} There are an 18th century (stone, brick and tile) and an early 20th century (stone and asbestos) wool warehouse in Towcester Northants associated with the Jenkinson family of wool staplers and bankers. Neither are listed. The 20th century warehouse is due for demolition as part of a redevelopment scheme. Suspect that they are a comparatively rare monument.
The C20th example is behind The Chantry House (Amen Corner) and was built using the listed wall. It has a metal roof and there are internal photographs c.1930 showing it stacked up with fleeces. This was originally Jenkinson's who later became the Central Wool Growers and are still in the town as CWS farmers merchants.
