Full Description

National School, Watling Street
National school erected in 1849 to a design by Hall and Briggs. Gothic style structure in Kingsthorpe stone under a tiled roof. There was a bell tower to summon children to school. In 1904 there were a number of alterations and improvements to the building. 1921 a lorry damaged the school and largescale repairs had to be undertaken. The school was sold in 1929 after a new school was built. The structures are now used as a series of shops. Film 3, photo 20-22. (1)
