Summary

The Kettering Boot and Shoe School was opened in 1924 in an old factory site that had been built in the 1870s (previously Clarke and Butlin). The school was extended in 1929 and again in 1939. The new extension held the SATRA laboratory when it moved from London in 1940. The school closed in 1974.

{1} Technical Boot Institute, Thorngate Street
Factory purchased in 1923 and adapted for use as County School of Boot and Shoe Manufacture. Provided specialised machinery and experts to give lectures and demonstrations.

{2} The Kettering Boot and Shoe School was opened in 1924 in an old factory site that had been built in the 1870s (previously the Clarke and Butlin shoe factory). The school was extended in 1929 and again in 1939. The new extension held the SATRA laboratory when it moved from London in 1940. The school closed in 1974.
