{1} Dark soil and charcoal exposed by fallen trees. At least 20m diam. Hall, D. N. 1997, 'Northamptonshire Forests' part 2 (for Forest Enterprise). In the report it is incorrectly reported as a slag patch.

{3} Dense black iron slag 20m diameter in Mill Wood disturbed by rabbits. Roman or medieval iron-working industrial site. SP9777 9804

{5} A charcoal production site, not iron smelting
