Summary

Built in 1885, designed by J.S.Gwilt, the sanatorium resembled a two-storey house. An army hut was added in 1919, and a new two-storey wing was erected in 1931.The sanatorium closed in 1992 and became a music school.

Full Description

{1} The Sanatorium showing on maps of 1900 and 1926 has now gone. Uncertain whether it was originally for use by school or possibly workhouse. Replaced with a later sanatorium building (complete with external balconies etc). The building is now used as a boarding house for the school. Film 6, photo25.
