Full Description
{1} Boot Upper factory, Palk Street. Building shown on maps of 1885, 1900 and 1926 and identified as boot upper factory in 1926. The building has subsequently been demolished and replaced with modern flats. Possible location for
FC Chamberlain and Co Ltd Shoe Manufacturers, Palk Road, a firm founded by Frederick Chamberlain who manufactured boot uppers at West Street, Wellingborough in 1891. The firm moved to Mill Road in 1903 and to Palk Road in 1919 (producing boot uppers, leggings and gaiters). The firm donated Swanspool House and Gardens to the people of Wellingborough in 1919.
