Summary

A large 2-storey factory built circa 1920, probably for T. Goodey & Sons, football boot manufacturers. The factory is built on a long and narrow plot on the south side of Alma Street. A second brick-built range was added to the factory in the 1930s.

Full Description

{1} Alma Works Boot and Shoe, Alma Street. Alma Works Boot and shoe factory shown on map of 1926. The red brick building is still in existence and now in use by 'Alma Fabrications and Blacksmiths' with a substantial extension to the rear.

{2} This large 2-storey factory was built circa 1920, probably for T. Goodey & Sons, football boot manufacturers. The original factory consists of 2 ranges. The flat-roofed extension was added to the rear, probably in the 1930s, and thus probably before the factory was adapted to engineering purposes.
