Building record 3884/0/143 - Boot and Shoe factory on corner of Lister Road and Finedon Road

An 'L' plan boot and shoe factory that was built in the early 20th century. The factory is built on the corner of Stanley Road and Lister Road and has two brick-built storeys over a basement.

Boot and shoe factory on the corner of Lister Road and Finedon Road. Still in existence and used as offices. The building was of basic construction, but used good quality brick etc.

{2}This L-shaped factory was built aroung 1900, probably as new premises for the Stanley Boot Company who were originally located in Stanley Road and specialised in shooting and farm boots. The factory has two storeys over a basement. A 1916 photo shows that the exterior of the present building is relatively unaltered. The office occupies the bays to the east of the main entrance with the cutting taking place in the basement and the dispatch on the top floor. Unusually the large windows on the ground floor might suggest that this was the location of the clicking workshop. Various small outbuildings shown to the west of the Lister Road gable have been demolished.
