Full Description

{1} Boot and Shoe factory, Stanley Road/Grant Road
Building shown on maps of 1900 and 1926, but only identified as shoe factory in 1926. Of basic three storey design still standing, but building is now longer utilised and some windows are boarded up. The building has been partially modernised and only some of the original windows survive.

{2} This now vacant, three storey, nine bay factory was probably built for Pinny Bothers, upper manufacturers, shortly before 1896, probably to allow them to move from an earlier site in Church Street. It was extended to the east between 1899 and 1924. In common with other factories connected with upper manufacture it has taking-in doors and the same size window frames on each floor. In other respects it resembles the conventional late 19th-century shoe factory.

{3} An impressive red brick factory with yellow string course and cast iron windows, situated on Stanley Road.
