Building record 3884/0/200 - Engineering Works in Debdale Road

ineering works which originated as a service building to Hatton House. Probably built in the 18th century.

{1} Industrial building, Debdale Road
Two small industrial/agricultural buildings on Debdale Road - one of brick and the other of stone. Number of changes to both structures. Uncertain usage. Buildings possibly part of complex associated with adjacent Manor House. Film 23 photo 11.

{2} This engineering works originated as service buildings to either Hatton Hall or the Manor House. It is possible that the service buildings were adapted and extended for use as a shoe factory although the buildings lack the range of features normally associated with shoe factories of this date. The central stone range is the earliest and may date from the 18th century. The stone single storey range on its south east side had been added by 1886. The tall single storey brick range to the north west appears to result from the remodelling, at some time between 1899 and 1924, of a pre-1886 structure.
