Building record 3884/0/161 - Former boot and shoe factory, Knox Road

A boot and shoe factory that is located to the rear of 23 Knox Street. This three-storey brick-built rectangular-plan shoe factory with a hipped roof is located to the rear of 23 Knox Street. It was built in the late 19th century.

{1} Factory, Knox Road / Palk Road
Large factory building on plot of land between Knox Road and Palk Road. Appears to be partially utilised and modernised with new windows inserted; now for sale. Once used by 'Nobles'. Film 11, photo 14-15.

{2} This former shoe factory was probably built in the 1880s for Rudlen Ltd, a once well-known firm of Wellingborough shoe makers. The firm moved to new premises in 1898. The lack of any reference to the factory in the leather-trades directories after 1898 suggests that other trades may have used it after Rudlens left.
