Summary

Former Congregational chapel in Salem Lane built in 1812 by seceders from the Cheese Lane chapel, who objected to the introduction of an organ. Following a reunion in 1873 it was converted to a Sunday school. Brick walls and a hipped slate roof, much altered and refenestrated in 1875.

Full Description

{1} Sunday School - probably associated with Congregational Church, High Street - (now Salem Hall) is still in existence. Film 19 photo 17-18.

{2} 'Salem Chapel' was built in 1812 by seceders from Cheese Lane chapel, who objected to the introduction of an organ. After the reunion of the congregations, the chapel was converted for Sunday School use.brick walls and hipped slate roof; much altered and refenstrated in 1875, with paired round-arched windows to the upper floor.
