Full Description

{1} Meeting Room, Ranelagh Road shown on 2nd edition OS map. The building is extant but function unclear.

{2} Single storey red brick building in grounds of The Lindens, Midland Road, Wellingborough. The building is of late 19th century date (erected between 1885 and 1900) and in a Victorian classical style. The building would appear to have had a recreational function, it was until recently used as a billiard room and is in close proximity to a skating rink and later tennis court associated with the main house.

The building is situated on a raised walkway supported by brick arches. The building is highly decorative with the use of stained glass and decorative brickwork on the exterior. The interior is wood panelled and contained two good quality marble fireplaces (the latter features have been removed by vandals), the ceiling has decorative pasterwork cornice and coving. There are two main rooms linked by a panelled wooden door. The larger of the two rooms currently contains a snooker table. In addition there is a modern brick extension to the west of the building which is used as a utility area/ kitchen.

The Lindens was historically owned by the Saxby family and although the main house has been sold, the billiard room remains in the original ownership. Until recently the building was used as a social facility for the Saxby factory.
