{2} Two subrectangular Iron Age or Roman ditched enclosures are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs and were mapped as part of the Bedford Borough NMP project. Located in a field about 1200 metres north of Friendly Lodge and centred at TL 02568 74577, a 21 metre possibly sub-square shaped ditched enclosure sits within a fragmentary larger, outer, subrectangular ditch enclosing an area some 107 x 110 metres. Bisecting this NE-SW is a 225 metre long linear ditch some 2.6 metres wide of uncertain date and function. To the SE of the outer enclosure is a curvilinear ditch linking to a linear ditch suggesting a probable further contiguous enclosure or field boundary.
