Summary

Collyweston slate was quarried and mined to provide roofing slates from roman times. There are remains of quarries on both sides of the A43. A footpath runs through the area known as 'the deeps' to the north of the A43 between Collyweston and Easton-on-the-Hill. Little remains except for overgrown surface workings and the site is now a nature reserve
