Monument record 7965/0/1 - WWII Searchlight

A searchlight battery from World War II. On the list from Northamptonshire SMR where it is known only from documentary sources. It was probably constructed between 1939 and 1945 but its condition is uncertain at the time of the Defence of Britain survey. The site was operated by the 467 S/L Battery 73 S/L Regiment. The site is located at Mears Ashby.

{1} Battery known as Mears Ashby but parish/ modern NGR not verified. Ref 25624. Military Grid Ref requires conversion. A Armishaw advises that this site has been located by a resident.

{2} Armishaw provided documentary confirmation of the presence of this S/L site known as 25624 Mears Ashby. NGR SP 8446 6565 calculated by Armishaw from MGR 84/297852.
